A wildlife spotting adventure for
curious young explorers.
The Nature Explorer Challenge is a simple outdoor activity designed to help children notice and enjoy the wildlife around them.
Take the checklist on a walk, explore parks, woodland, or even your garden, and see how many plants, animals, and insects you can find.
How this challenge works
1. Download the checklist
2. Take it on a nature walk
3. See how many things you can spot
4. Upload your completed checklist (optional)
5. Earn your Nature Explorer Certificate (optional)
Don't forget to come back when you've finished, upload your checklist below and receive your certificate
Download the Nature Explorer Challenge and either print the checklist or open it on your phone or tablet.
If you have a printer, simply print the pages and take them with you on your nature walk. Children can tick the boxes, write where they found things, and draw their favourite discovery.
If you don’t have a printer, you can complete the challenge on your device. Open the checklist on your phone or tablet and use the built-in drawing or markup tools to tick boxes and add notes.
You can also take photos of the things you find along the way.
When you’ve finished exploring, take a photo or screenshot of your completed checklist and upload it on this page to receive your Chaotic Green Spirit Nature Explorer Certificate.
Finished Your Nature Explorer Challenge?
When your Nature Explorer Challenge is complete, ask a grown-up to take a photo or screenshot of your checklist. You can upload it using the button below.
Don’t worry if you didn’t find everything in one day – many explorers complete their checklist over several walks.
Every explorer who completes the challenge will receive a
Nature Explorer Certificate as a reward for their curiosity and exploration.
Some explorers may also be featured on the Chaotic Green Spirit website to celebrate their adventure in nature.
